Currently Thomas is working with Dr. Jamie Kirkpatrick to model and numerically analyze fault rock from the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, as well as with Dr. Bill Sanford to study the shear strength of soil in an area of Arapaho National Forest that has been extensively devastated by pine beetles. When Thomas finds himself with spare time he enjoys hiking and exploring Northern Colorado, cooking and baking, or just sitting down to enjoy a great book.
