Alyssa Abraham

Alyssa is from Agawam, Massachusetts and is studying Chemistry and Forensic Science at the University of New Haven. She plans to go to graduate school to obtain a Ph.D. in Chemistry. Alyssa would like to work in the chemical industry and eventually become a professor. Alyssa is a Senior Resident Assistant, the Executive Assistant of her American Chemical Society chapter, and a member of the Admission’s Team and Pep Band. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, playing the trombone, reading and hanging out with friends.

Alexis is a senior graphic design major who loves to go out and do new things. After completing a semester abroad in London, she began working in the study abroad office where she peer advises students and helps make their dreams of studying abroad come true. Alexis is a Rec Sports Champion and loves to bake delicious goodies for her friends.

Kayla is a senior at the University of New Haven, CT. She is majoring in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Investigative Services and is minoring in Psychology. Her career goals include working for a federal law enforcement agency such as the FBI or DEA. Outside of her love for academics, Kayla’s passion is dance. Kayla is a dance teacher as well as a professional backup dancer. She believes it is the most rewarding experience to inspire others through the art of dance.

Jake is currently a 4th year student at Schreiner University pursuing a B.S. in Biochemistry and a B.A. in Psychology. He attends a very small private university in the Texas Hill Country where he is privileged enough to work on field biology and behavioral biology research with a focus on ecotoxicology. Jake hopes to attend a graduate program in Cognitive Science and study the mind and its development. Jake has a particular interest in education and learning.

Dani is studying art history in the Liberal Arts College of Colorado State University. She hopes to pursue a career as a museum curator and art critic. In her spare time, Dani enjoys walking, traveling, painting, and being with friends and family.

Outside of his research, Bliss enjoys teaching General Chemistry as the university’s supplemental instruction leader and as an instructor for Princeton Review’s MCAT course. Additionally, Bliss is an avid ping pong player and captains the UAB Table Tennis Team that competes across the southeast. Bliss wishes to pursue an MD/PHD upon graduation to blend his passions into teaching academic medicine at a leading medical research university.

Billie is an undergraduate at the University of Queensland, completing a Studies in Religion and Asian Studies bachelor degree. Among her areas of interest are South/South East Asian studies, including topics such as Sanskrit language and research, the practice and relationship of tattooing and textiles in nomadic society in India, self-mortification in South and Southeast Asian religious rituals such as fire walking, body piercing and self-flagellation, ritual and religion in the Hindu diaspora, and women in the female authored canonical text in the Pali Canon. Billie is heavily involved on her campus, as she is the president of both Culture Club and Uni A.S.I.A. After completing her undergraduate degree, she plans to begin a Research Higher Degree program in Asian Studies.

Ben is an aspiring author with four books down and way too many to go. When not neck deep in literature, Ben is usually playing volleyball or videogames, filming a Youtube series about a discount hit man or simply kicking back and trying to understand sports. Ben’s most Coloradan moment was when he climbed four 14ers in one day. If Ben lived in a perfect world, he would be able to make a living off of his writing, but until that day comes, his only goal is to make it get here sooner.

Audrey comes to Colorado from Spokane, Washington, where her parents and two little sisters continue to live. Academically, Audrey is interested in immunology, physiology, and scientific writing. Personally, Audrey loves to hike, run, watch sunsets, and eat ice cream. Outside of JUR, most of Audrey’s time is split between class, the Honors Association, and Pi Beta Phi membership. Audrey is still unsure of her dream career, but she hopes to make the wonders of science more attainable and interesting to all.

Katie did not have far to travel from her hometown of Aurora, CO to go to CSU. She is pursuing a career in veterinary medicine with a Bachelor of Science degree in Equine Science and a minor in Business. After completing her undergraduate degree and veterinary school, Katie aspires to become a large and small animal veterinarian on the Isle of Skye, off the west coast of Scotland. In addition to helping with the JUR, Katie enjoys spending her time running, acting as a board member for The Swedish Club of Denver, and traveling.
